The Pump Test on the proposed Assabet #3 Well was shut down on Friday, July 20th because of structural problems with the existing well.  Samples were taken during the 24 hours that the test was running and they will be analyzed.  When that information is available, discussions will take place to determine the appropriate course of action.

Beginning next week the Acton water District's well drilling company, R.E. Chapman, will begin to clean and test the observation wells selected to be used and sampled during the proposed pumping test.  This is the first step in preparation for the actual 5 day test.
Once we have determined the condition of the observation wells, we will try to schedule the 5 day pumping test.  We would like to have the test performed in June of 2007.

The AWD is planning on conducting a 4 hour “step test” at the site of the original WRG 3 Well on Thursday July 27th.  The purpose of this test is to gather additional information, primarily on water quantity, and to a lesser extent on water quality, in order to be better prepared to submit a request to D.E.P. to conduct a more lengthy, and far more comprehensive pump test late in 2006 or early in 2007.

At the Annual meeting held on March 15th, 2006 the voters approved Article #12.  "Voted to transfer $96,00.00 from the W.R. Grace settlement account for the initial engineering and related costs and expenses associated with gaining regulatory approval for the use of the Districts' Assabet well #3 off of High street in Acton as a public water source or to take any other action relative thereto."

At the regularly scheduled commissioners meeting held on March 27th, 2006, the commissioners  approved entering into a contract with Dufresne-Henry, for that purpose.  The following is a very preliminary schedule, provided by the consultant, outlining the steps to be taken according to that contract.

The board of water commissioners expects periodic reports on the progress according to this schedule and will attempt to make available any applicable findings here on this site, as soon as they are available.
